I always talk about going to Yellowstone to gather reference materials for future drawings, but I’ve tried very hard over the last few years to capture a swan that I wanted to draw. We spotted these a long way off and were able to hike a little way to have an excellent vantage point above these magnificent swans. I must’ve taken 1000 photos of just this pair. They are fascinating to watch as well as supremely beautiful. This drawing was a joy to do, and even though it had many challenges (drawing water), I am so happy with how it turned out.
