I had an idea to do 30 drawings in 30 days, but not consecutively. The idea is to limit the time it takes me to complete a piece. Most of you know my works are time-consuming and sometimes takes weeks to complete. Like most artists, I can get a little tired in the middle of a several weeks project, so after one of those, I only want to work on small drawings. It’s very satisfying to start and finish one thing in a day. Also, it’s a great exercise to keep things fresh and a little loose (but not too loose). So I decided to make a more considerable exercise of it and aim for 30 little drawings in 30 days. Their small size makes them more affordable and makes it easier to find a place to hang them.
My subjects will be wide-ranging, from birds to wildlife to cattle and horses. I love to draw all things, and for my big shows and galleries, I usually do what I am known for, especially horses. This project will enable me to take a few more risks and allow me to play with color more (which is really fun!)
For this project, I have started oil paintings, pastel paintings, pencil drawings, and colored pencil drawings, and I hope to do a watercolor too. The only thing I won’t be doing is a sculpture. :)
Stay tuned!
